Crank (Square Crank) Description
Crank (Square Crank) (Square Crank) "The end is square-shaped."

Unlike the original Resident Evil where the use of the two cranks happened quite often, in Resident Evil 2 there is only a single crank which has only one use. That use is to access the RPD's clock tower. This is required by both Leon and Claire to gain puzzle pieces.

Once you have the Spade Key you can gain access to the file room (It's the door on the side where you met the first Licker). Inside, once you've pushed some steps to the right place, you can get the crank off the top of a shelf.

Claire B
Down in the RPD basement, you should make your way through to the Kennels nearer the back of the basement. Inside you will find the crank sitting there. Beware of the dogs though.

Leon B
In the Chief's private Art Gallery, past the Chief's Office, you will find the Crank sitting in a small box at the back of the room.
